What Are Dental Crowns?

At Taylorsville Implant Center, we often recommend dental crowns to restore and protect damaged teeth. A crown is a custom-made cap that covers a tooth to strengthen it, improve its shape, or enhance its appearance.

Whether your tooth is cracked, severely decayed, or has had a root canal, a crown helps preserve its function while blending naturally with your smile. We use durable, tooth-colored materials to ensure both strength and aesthetics. It’s a reliable solution to keep your smile healthy and confident for years to come.

We prioritize the patient experience and offer sedation dentistry for your comfort. We work with Elite Anesthesia, a company that sends us a nurse anesthetist to administer sedation in the utmost safety. If you are in need of a crown or other dental treatment, we look forward to helping you.

Quality Care Made Affordable

Affordable Dental Crown in Salt Lake city- Taylorsville Implant Center

At Taylorsville Implant Center, we charge $1,300 for a single crown. Most insurance plans will contribute to that cost, and we will work directly with your provider to help you get maximum reimbursement. We also work with CareCredit®, a third-party lender offering low-interest and interest-free credit lines. Our friendly team is here to assist with billing and insurance questions, and will help you maximize your coverage.

What’s An Implant-Supported Crown?

While a traditional crown can reinforce the structure of an existing damaged tooth, Dr. Hernandez-Gil also offers implant-supported crowns to completely replace a missing tooth.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium. Once Dr. Hernandez-Gil places an implant, it integrates with the bone tissue and becomes part of your anatomy. Then, a custom crown can be placed to fill the gap in your smile.

Dr. Hernandez-Gil specializes in dental implants and can perform every step of your surgery at our Salt Lake City office. When cared for properly, implant-supported crowns can be a long-lasting solution — the crown can last for 10-15 years, and the implant could last the rest of your life. Treatment for a single tooth starts at $4,500.

Process of Dental Crowns Treatment

The crown process takes at least two appointments. During these appointments, Dr. Hernandez-Gil will prepare your tooth and place your final restoration.

1. Consultation

You will first meet with Dr. Hernandez-Gil at our Salt Lake City dental office, where he will inquire about your goals and examine your teeth. If you are a good candidate for a dental crown, you can move forward with treatment.

2. Treatment

Once you are comfortable, Dr. Hernandez-Gil will remove damaged or decayed tissue from your tooth and reshape it to accommodate your crown.

3. Impression

Your dentist will take impressions of your dental arch. These impressions will be used to create your crown.

4. Temporary

Dr. Hernandez-Gil will place a temporary crown to protect your tooth until your final restoration is ready. He will adjust your temporary crown so that your bite is perfectly balanced and feels exactly as it did before you started having problems with your tooth.

5. Lab

Your impressions will be sent to a trusted off-site dental lab where technicians will craft your custom crown. Dr. Hernandez-Gil works exclusively with a lab capable of meeting his high standards.

6. Final Restoration

Once we’ve received your final restoration, you can return to our office. Dr. Hernandez-Gil will remove your temporary crown, check the fit of your final restoration with opposing teeth, and ensure it looks natural before securing it in place with dental cement.

FAQs

Have a Question? We’ve Got Answers

If you have a damaged, decayed, or root canal-treated tooth, you may need a crown. Dr. Hernandez-Gil will evaluate your case and recommend a traditional crown or a better alternative like a bridge or implant-supported crown.

Treat it like a natural tooth - brush twice daily, floss once a day, use mouthwash as needed, and avoid hard or sticky foods. Don’t use your teeth as tools. With proper care, your crown can last 10–15 years or longer.

It depends on your needs. Porcelain or zirconia offers a natural look, while gold crowns are more durable. Dr. Hernandez-Gil will help you choose the best option based on your goals and preferences.

No, Dr. Hernandez-Gil prioritizes quality over speed. While same-day crowns may compromise durability, he provides a temporary crown during your visit, ensuring comfort and function until your custom, long-lasting crown is ready.

A single dental crown typically costs $1,300. Most insurance plans help cover part of that cost, and we’ll work directly with your provider to ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement available.
