Payson isn’t just our service dog – he’s part of the healing. His presence transforms nervous energy into calm confidence. I’m so proud to have him by my side.
Dr. Jose Hernandez-Gil proudly calls Payson not only his service dog but also his loyal companion and trusted team member. Payson’s calm, friendly presence brings smiles even before treatment begins.
With his soft fur, gentle eyes, and always-wagging tail, Payson makes patients of all ages feel welcomed, relaxed, and cared for.
Payson reflects the values we hold dear – kindness, compassion, connection, and care. We’re honored to have him as part of our team, and we know your experience will be better because of him.
At Taylorsville Implant Center, we believe that great dental care isn’t just about teeth – it’s about how you feel the moment you walk through our doors. That’s where Payson, our beloved mascot- service dog comes in.
Be sure to say hello to Payson when you visit our office – he’ll be waiting with a wag and a warm welcome. And keep an eye on our social media for updates and photos of Payson doing what he does best: bringing joy to our dental family.
“Payson’s Instinct Saved the Day- Twice”
On two separate occasions, Payson gently stopped patients from entering the treatment room. He started sniffing and licking their bellies with unusual focus. Neither woman knew she was pregnant. Thanks to Payson’s instincts, both had their appointments safely rescheduled. Later, pregnancy tests confirmed what Payson had already sensed. As in dentistry it’s important not to work on pregnant women in the first or third trimester. His calming presence is more than emotional support- it’s protective, too. Payson has a remarkable gift.
“The Silent Patient Who Smiled Again”
One anxious patient who was usually a talker came in and was very quiet. Payson, sensing his fear, gently entered the treatment room (which he never does) and climbed beside him. The man instantly smiled and began petting Payson. It turns out he was really scared and severely anxious. Payson knew it and would not let Dr. Hernandez touch the man. The patient’s appointment was rescheduled and on his next visit- with medication and renewed confidence, he completed treatment without a hitch. Payson wasn’t even nearby that day, but his calming impact had already done its job.
“Payson’s Pause That Saved a Life”
During a routine visit, a veteran patient forgot to mention he had shrapnel in his head from serving in Iraq and a severe allergy to a commonly used anesthesia. Any sudden jolts to his head would’ve resulted in instant death. Just before treatment began, Payson unexpectedly entered the room and began sniffing the patient’s head and face. That moment triggered the patient’s memory- he urgently shared his critical medical history. Thanks to Payson’s instinct, we avoided a potentially fatal situation. His presence didn’t just bring comfort that day- it brought protection.
Payson is more than just our mascot – he’s an AKC Champion, with titles before and after his name: CH Lasquite Payson Po’okela of Kris’s Kountry CGC, CGCA, UCGC.
His credentials reflect his training, temperament, and ability to connect with people on a meaningful level.
Whether guiding patients through the office or simply sitting by their side, Payson brings warmth, dignity, and a sense of peace.
